Wakes Surfing Recent Legal Proceedings and Upcoming Town Bd mtg

On July 25, 2025, a request was made by four plaintiffs to request a temporary restraining order and a temporary injunction against the Town of Manitowish Waters to not enforce provisions of the recently passed wake surfing ordinances (Ordinance 1-2025, and the border lakes ordinance with Boulder Junction).

On July 31, 2025, the temporary restraining order was denied and a date was set for Aug 7 for the temporary injunction.

On Aug, 7, 2025, the temporary injunction was denied.

The Town of Manitowish Waters has scheduled a Special Town Board Meeting on Tuesday, Aug 19, at 5:00 p.m. in the Community Center.  The single agenda item for that meeting is: “Request from wake surfers to discuss amending the Town’s Artificial Wake Enhancement ordinances.”
